Big Mouth Leather Duffle Bag
Over-Engineering
The Big Mouth Duffle is a smaller version of the Doctor’s Leather Duffle Bag. It was engineered with no breakable parts, like magnets, zippers, snaps or buttons and all stress points are reinforced with rivets and hidden polyester straps. The main body is built with one solid piece of leather to reduce seams and one piece on each end. And we sew at only 5 stitches per inch so there is more leather between the needle holes and therefore fewer holes to start tearing. Some leather bags are sewn with thinner thread to save money and so sew with the holes closer together, but then they start tearing like perforated paper.
Materials
Our leather is only the full-grain stuff, and it's thick. The interior has two large pigskin pockets and three additional divided pigskin pockets, which is stronger than the cow skin. One of the coolest materials we use is our custom 316 Stainless Steel. It's a fun one to research up on. It can hold up to 750 lbs. If your life is depending on something, you're going to want it to depend on this metal. Our thick thread is a very strong industrial marine-grade and UV resistant polyester. It doesn't deteriorate when the sun hits it, more designers should use it.
Functionality
The mid-18th century Gladstone Bag closure goes right along with our design philosophy of building it for life. This was at the time when zippers weren’t a thing yet and they needed to keep your leather travel bag closed. It doesn’t need to be buckled, but you can.
