WHY DOESN’T HANDVANA CONTAIN ALCOHOL? We chose to use the ingredient, benzalkonium chloride, which kills common germs and is safe and effective to use. Benzalkonium chloride, along with both ethanol and isopropanol, is deemed eligible by the FDA for use in the formulation of hand sanitizers. Alcohol can be very drying to the skin, is flammable when stored incorrectly (100+ degrees) and can have serious adverse effects if ingested by children.
